Food recipe: One potato, two potato, three potato more!

Vegetable Food Recipe Week, The Sequel: Day 5
Once again, we have reached the end of the one, the only, the superfantabulous Vegetable Food Recipe Week, The Sequel. We've read recipes, we've been tempted by vegetables, and we've eaten both healthy and yummy at the same time (who'd a thunk it?).

So how am I ending this truly unique, once-in-a-lifetime event? Why with a potato recipe. You can think of it as our crowning glory. But not as a crown. Because that would be messy.

Indeed.

This recipe comes to us from the ever-popular, ever-beautiful, always generous Julie from Meanwhile, Back in the Kitchen.
Food recipe: Potato Gratin
Step 1:
2 pounds baking potatoes, peeled, very thinly sliced
Layer half in a buttered 6-cup shallow baking dish.

Step 2:
1 clove garlic, pressed
1 cup grated Gruyere
Combine. Sprinkle half over potatoes.

Step 3:
1 cup heavy cream
Sprinkle half over cheese.

Step 4:
Salt
Sprinkle over cream.

Repeat layers. Bake uncovered at 350° for 50-60 minutes until gratin is crisp and golden on top.
And so concludes Vegetable Food Recipe Week, The Sequel. It's been fun and ... what? You want more? You can't bear for it all to end? Sigh. Neither can I. I'll tell you what, because you've all been so good about all these wonderful veg recipes, I'll slip another, bonus recipe, in tomorrow's post. For this one, we go to a Canadian friend. So grab your lemons and ... don't touch that dial!
